Illuminus is a progressive/alternative rock/metal band from Wellington, New Zealand. Their debut album 'Until the End' was released in 2012 and received rave reviews.
‘Endless’ is the new album from Wellington band ‘Illuminus’. Out on 1 May 2018, Endless is the follow up to debut album ‘Until the End.’
Combining elements of alternative and progressive rock/metal with strings, keyboards and Aidan’s unique vocal style, the Illuminus sound is bold, aggressive and dynamic. Influenced by progressive rock bands such as Cog, Karnivool, The Butterfly Effect, Dead Letter Circus and Sydonia, Endless is truly a step in a more progressive direction. The album is infused with alternate time signatures, offbeat rhythms and complex song structures and themes.
Key highlights of this new sonic direction are ‘Desert,’ ‘Timeless,’ and the epic 8-minute ‘Endless’. Big choruses and radio-friendly tracks like ‘Grow’, ‘Brittle’, ‘Enlightened’, and ‘Omega’ make Endless an eclectic album that will win over both rock and metal fans.
Illuminus are originally from Auckland, and were started in 2011 by husband and wife duo Aidan and Milla Dickens, with Milla originally on lead vocals, and Aidan on guitars and backing vocals. In 2012 Milla left the band to pursue her studies in classical and opera, and Aidan took over lead vocal duty, re-recording the vocals for their debut album ‘Until the End’, which had already been recorded with Milla, and releasing it.
Milla has now returned to the band on vocals and keyboards, and a re-release of the original ‘Until the End’, with Milla’s lead vocals is planned for release this year.
